Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is an educational program that focuses on strengthening individuals, families, and communities by addressing critical issues and needs, such as teaching parenting skills, improving nutrition and health, managing family finances, addressing child care needs and more!
The Claiborne County FCS program offers a wide variety of events and activities throughout the year that helps its citizens learn to make sound decisions about wise use of their resources, educates them about health-promoting behaviors and encourages individual development to help people reach their full potential in parenting, and financial management.
For more than 94 years a network of friends in communities across Claiborne County have formed Family and Community Education Clubs that share common goals:
- To learn through shared experience
- To improve home and community life
- To strengthen adult education
- To promote projects that enhances family and community life
FCE provides research-based information through the University of Tennessee Extension. Being a FCE club member affords you the opportunity to learn with friends and share what you know at hands-on workshops and meetings.
